6. The Skull

Mark 15: 22   Then they *brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.  23  They tried to give Him wine mixed with myrrh; but He did not take it.  24  And they crucified Him

We don’t usually think about Jesus dying on the cross during Advent. That is more of a Lent and Easter thing to think about. And that is appropriate. But we really can’t have one without the other. The baby Jesus arrived into this world with the purpose of saving His people from their sins. The way that happened was on the cross.

It is most appropriate to take a few minutes and think about that during Advent. Jesus arrived in a manger. And Jesus arrived at the place of the skull where He would be crucified. From day one to His last day He was always doing what He came here to do. So as we celebrate His coming can we make a little room to honor Him for His sacrifice.

“Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the day that Christ arrived in this world. Thank you for Christmas. Please help us today to understand Your ultimate plan for our salvation. Thank you for Jesus arriving at the place of the skull and sacrificing Himself. Please help us to have a strong faith throughout the year between Christmas and Easter and between Eater and Christmas. Amen”
