It's that time ๐ก๐ข๐๐๐๐
Well it is that time of year again for the 119th time. And I am glad it is for quite a few reasons. Now I know that not everyone is as excited as I am about the PCF and thatโs quite all right. Itโs a wonderful display of the grace of God where one person enjoys one thing and another enjoys something else. We should be gracious like God. But here are a few of the reasons I like the PCF. First, the time I get to spend with friends and family alike in a different than usual setting. Donโt get me wrong I enjoy seeing people at church and visiting at the gas station or grocery store. Standing on the corner holding a cup of coffee and shooting the breeze. Well, thatโs just good for my soul. But at the Fair there is a shared experience that only comes around once a year. Where instead of a cup of coffee itโs a 4-H milkshake or some Mini-Donuts. And instead of standing maybe itโs a stroll through the livestock barns or down the food corridor to see whatโs next on the menu. Sharing that experience with people brings a smile to my face as I think about it. Next, see my last postโฆITโS THE PLACE FOR FOOD!!! Brisket sandwiches, Burgers, Shakes, Fries, Turkey Leg, Cheese Curds, Tacos, Lemonade, Ice Cream, Popcorn, Strawberry Sugared Mini-Donuts, Elephant Earsโฆ get the picture. The veritable cornucopia at my finger tips makes my mouth water and stomach growl. Next, the sights and sounds. Parents walking with their children to the next kiddie ride with sheer joy on their faces and the parents looking for a place to sit. The whirl of the high speed twisty ride. The game callers trying to bring the customer in to play. The overpowering roar of whatever is going on in the Grandstand. The singing or entertainment at the Free Stage. Walking through the Arts and Crafts Building and seeing what the people of our county have created with their own hands. All of these are just a grand beauty to me. And in just one word here is why. Heaven.
I know that as a child of God who has been born again by the Spirit of God through faith in Jesus Christ that one day I will leave this place. This earth. And have a new residence in heaven. That will be my eternal home. In that place all of the things that I appreciate about the Fair will be magnified beyond what I can comprehend while living here. The people there are from every tribe and tongue and nation and every period of history. That is a place that we have never experienced together before. I canโt even imagine how different it will be from the usual. The food is provided at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. I have no idea whatโs on the menu but I know the savory goodness that comes from the Savior here on earth will be something to salivate over in heaven. The sights and sounds will be of the purest colors and hues conceivable. Streets paved with gold. Seas of Jasper. Thatโs some wonderfully awesome stuff right there.
Heaven. Are you hungry for it? Can you relate something you enjoy on this earth to the matchless magnitude of what that will be like in heaven? Maybe it isnโt the PCF but there must be something for you. Oh and if you see me at the Fair just know Iโm probably grateful for those moments and thinking of heaven while enjoying His grace in a Cotton Candy.
