Vacation Bible School, VBS. I love VBS. There are a few times a year where people show up to church and want to learn about God, VBS is one of them. What a blessing to share the love of God with the children of our community.
Our 2025 VBS theme from Lifeway is Magnify, where our children will discover the greatness of God in the smallest of things. Our theme verse is Psalm 34:3, “Proclaim the Lord’s greatness with me; let us exalt His name together.” As kids play games, sing songs, do crafts and learn bible lessons they will start to realize that they are “Made to magnify God!”
Have you thought about your life and pattern of worship? In what ways do you worship? How are you cultivating a worship relationship with God? Where to you see God at work around you?
These are all good questions that challenge us to slow down and take time to be in relationship with God. God desires for us to turn to Him in worship when we see Him at work. When we see those little things that God does, our hearts should turn in worship to Him.
Knowing that God loves us, calls for us to return that love in worship. Knowing that He cares about our physical well-being, helps us thank God for His concern. Knowing that He loves us before we could love Him, lets us respond in love and worship. Recognizing God’s forgiveness, we can worship the God who restores us. God cares about our faith development; we can praise Him for His faithfulness.
These are the lessons that we hope our kids will catch this week at VBS. They are simple things but also take years to master. I know that I need to be reminded of God’s provision when the problems seem to be too great. That gentle, constant reminder of God’s love and the call to turn in worship is one that I need.
I would ask that you pray this week for a few things. Pray for VBS at Hope, Pray for the leaders, pray for the children. Pray for the parents who trust us with their children, that as they enter and exit the parking lot that they would see our love for their children. Pray that we would be given an opportunity to share the love of God with these families.
At the end of the week pray that we may continue to turn in worship towards God in all things. Pray that we would magnify God in every way this week, that when we see Jesus at work that we would turn in worship. May our actions bring glory to God this week as we teach the children of our community to Magnify God.
