Acts 9:3  As he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;

This was the moment when Jesus arrived in Paul’s life.

Paul (original name Saul) was a very religious person who had a great deal of commitment to the Law of God and to the traditions of Jewish leaders. As a matter of fact he was one of those leaders. By this point in the book of Acts the Gospel had begun to spread among the Jews and people were believing in Jesus. Paul thought that this “new group” called The Way needed to be punished and eliminated.

He was traveling to arrest believers in Damascus and bring them to Jerusalem to face trial and imprisonment. But then Jesus arrived. This wasn’t your typical arrival. Jesus had died, was buried, resurrected and ascended already. But nonetheless Jesus arrived and addressed Paul in the brilliance of that white light Jesus and Paul interacted and Paul became a believer. One of there very people he had been persecuting.

Jesus arrives personally in our lives by faith. Most of us will not be surrounded by a bright white light from heaven. Nor will we have a conversation with Jesus as Paul did but He still arrives and calls us to believe the Gospel.

Maybe you had faith to believe a long time ago or maybe you’re not quite there yet. This is the season to consider once again your salvation. The Savior has come and He will come again. Are you and I ready?
