10. Wise men still seek Him
Matthew 2.7 Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.” …12 And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.
These wise men were looking for the one who was born king of the Jews. And for all intent and purposes they were talking to the king of the Jews, Herod. Quite possibly a very shocking thing to hear. We, of course, know the account of what transpires. Herod lies to them in order to kill the new born king and he asks for their help. They hear the lie that Herod wants to worship the new born king too. And so they leave not knowing they have been lied to.
While they were in route to finding Jesus and worshipping him. As they slept they had a dream. But it wasn’t an ordinary dream. This dream was a warning from God not to return to Herod. And so they didn’t return to him but went home by an alternate route.
How often in life do we proceed with our daily plans not knowing what is happening behind the scenes. Someone right now could be planning to do us great harm. Someone may have our personal identification and be getting ready to clean out our savings. We simply do not know. And beloved that’s ok. Because as followers of Jesus…we call someone who knows everything Father. God has His plan for our lives and no one nor nothing can thwart that plan. I don’t know if He will warn you and I in a dream. But I do know that if we keep our eyes firmly focused upon our Savior we will be in the center of that plan.
Wise men still seek Him.
