16. Big Ole Pussycats
Daniel 6.22 “My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.”
It is one of the most familiar scenes from the book of Daniel. The lions den. The King had been tricked to sign a law condemning anyone found praying to any other god other than praying to the King himself. Daniel was caught praying to God. The trap had been sprung. The King was upset but did not release Daniel from the consequence of the law. And so into the lion’s den Daniel went. The King went to his palace and fasted all night for Daniel and in the morning went to check and see if God had delivered Daniel. God did. And Daniel explains that an angel from God had arrived and shut the mouths of those big ole pussycats.
God had sent His messenger, His angel to perform a task of protecting Daniel. The word angel means messenger or sent one. When this particular sent one arrived into a very dangerous and adverse situation for Daniel the plans of his enemies were to fail.
As it is for us today. Our enemy has plans for our destruction…for our failure…and because Jesus has arrived the enemy’s plans have failed. Beloved, is there some adverse situation you or someone you love is facing. Could you encourage them by telling them about the arrival of Jesus whom had defeated our enemies?
